Why do you use brush plating and not tanks?
Developed in the early 1930’s by a French scientist Brush plating has now come of age as a serious method for electroplating. A commercial tank electroplating company had six attempts at plating the Church font (seen on our portfolio page) and failed at every attempt. Brush plating came into it’s own with this item and with total success achieved first time. We also like the safety of our chemicals as opposed to that used in tank systems.
Do you sell plating kits?
No, we do not sell electroplating kits. However we recommend only one company in the UK (www.goldn.co.uk) as a supplier. This company is without doubt the best at what they do.
Can you train people to do this?
Yes we can. We regularly train people on brush electroplating techniques using our vast engineering experience to help others. We offer various training packages, with a minimum of 1-day courses available.
Are your chemicals safe?
Yes, very safe. It is well known that most electroplating chemicals are caustic and poisonous. Our chemicals are the most environmentally friendly and the safest you can buy on the market.
Do you specialise?
We do a vast array of different work. Our reputation is becoming well known in the worldwide field for quality workmanship. From Historic, heritage, bespoke and customisation, we work to high and exacting standards.
Have you done work for anybody famous?
We are a professional company and respect the confidentiality of our professional clients. We therefore do not comment in this area.
What about pricing?
In some cases it can be difficult to estimate prices without seeing the item first, as all items will vary in condition etc. We can give guidelines in most instances though.
Do you gold plate mobile phones?
We were the first company to gold plate the Nokia 8800 and launch it on the worldwide web in 2005. We have done other phones also and some non-metallic ones.
Can you plate on plastic?
Yes, we can to a satisfactory standard, but this is not our main core of business. This was achieved to prove that it could be done with the brush plating process. The gold does remain on the item and has passed our adhesion test. We have developed a specialist process over a period of 18 months. This information is confidential and not available or open for discussion.
Gold plated car badges?
We do various gold plating of car badges and motorcycle badges. They can be sent to us or we can plate them on the vehicle with our mobile unit, subject to distance of course.
Do you do Silver plating?
Yes we do. Our silver is the least hazardous on the market to use. It is durable and bright with outstanding results.
How do you ship your items?
We currently use UPS for overseas shipping and we always use ’signed for’ insured services by Royal Mail for the UK.
What gold or other precious metal plating do you do?
We offer one of the most comprehensive selections of precious metal electroplating and metallic unique finishes in the UK. These include; 24ct, 18ct, 12ct, 9ct gold, Green gold, Rose gold, Rose gold tint, Antique gold (varying shades), Aged gold, White gold finishing. Bright silver, Antique/Aged silver, Aged nickel finish, Bright Rhodium, Black Rhodium and plating of some non-conductive substrates. All of these finishes are achieved in-house without the need to subcontract any of the work outside to others.
Do you do gold & silver plating on restoration projects?
Yes, anything from antique fountain pens to Classic or vintage vehicles and heritage items to name just a small selection.
Are you qualified?
Yes, we have a timed served apprenticeship behind us and many qualifications have been achieved along the way all-relating to engineering in some form or another. We have been continually involved in engineering for a period of over 32 years. Our experience has been in manufacturing, Service, Quality inspection (military aircraft), Composite materials (military aircraft), Electroplating (military aircraft), Electrical Diagnostics and fault investigations, team leadership & training. Companies that we have worked for included British Gas and Westland Helicopters, we have also given our time freely over a 12 year period to charity organisations.
Will the gold and silver plating last?
Yes, providing you care for it correctly. We believe that the Gold & silver electroplating solutions we use are unmatched in the UK by any other supplier. I personally own a Nokia 8800 gold plated phone that is now 18 months old and still looks stunning. It has no peeling or fading and has not worn through the surface. The silver plating is also hard wearing and anti-tarnish. We have recently applied our gold & silver precious metals to items, such as Church fonts and £25,000 watch straps as direct commissions for clients.
What types of payment will you accept?
We will happily accept credit card through PayPal, cash, cheque or bank transfer.
